Mark Olsen is a dedicated instructor at Dunkley School of Music. As a longtime performer and educator, he brings over 19 years of teaching experience to his role as a guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, and mandolin teacher. Mark Olsen works with students of all ages and levels, creating a fun, personalized path to musical growth.

Musical Background

Mark has taught at some of the region’s best music stores since the early 1990s and has spent 20 years performing in a touring band. Over the course of his career, he’s played more than 1,000 shows and even won a Battle of the Bands in 1993. In college, he studied music theory through multiple non-major courses, giving him a strong foundation in musical structure and composition.

Teaching Style

Mark tailors each lesson to the student’s individual goals, supporting their musical interests while gently challenging them to grow. He encourages creativity and exploration, and when students are ready, he helps them begin writing their own songs.
