Several of my students have scored the highest marks in Pennsylvania and some have played in Carnegie Hall. I also serve as an US Ambassador for the RCM Certificate Program. I have prepared hundreds of students for these exams and examined thousands. I have taught in music conservatories in Vancouver, Seattle, Minneapolis, and at Penn State University. I recently moved to Star, Idaho and am re-building my in person studio.

I discovered a love for music at age 9 when I first picked up my grandfather’s alto saxophone. I went on to train in classical voice, and performed professionally in the Sacramento area, including appearances with the Sacramento Philharmonic and the Sacramento Opera Company. I attended Natomas Performing & Fine Arts Academy and gained experience as a music and vocal director for local theater companies.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force for six years, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis and have enjoyed working with children with special needs over the last several years. I love creating that context for students because it transfers into school presentations, sports, and church talks, and the confidence they learn from it carries into adulthood.

I also teach basic organ lessons for those of my students who are interested in playing the organ for their church services.

I am a member of the Treasure Valley Federated Music Club, so my students have the opportunity to participate in the Gold Cup Festival.

I have a goals based approach which focuses on learning songs as quickly as possible. Important skills are developed throughout the process in order to keep motivation high. Understanding music is made simple throughout the process.

I have a bachelors in music from Oceans Edge School of Music. I toured professionally as a drummer with a signed Boise based band called Esterlyn. I currently work as a full time music instructor.

I have over thirty-five years of playing experience. I studied jazz and the art of teaching under Patrick Kurdy and completed a 37-hour program at the Conn Selmer Institute. I have also studied drums for thirteen years, attended the Musicians Institute, and completed two summer courses in performance.

I am a certified Let’s Play Music, Presto, and Sound Beginnings teacher.

I took piano for 10 years and attended BSU, where I studied music composition and Piano Pedagogy. I have completed a Criminal Background Check.
