Lorie Marmon Scherer is an exceptional Dunkley School of Music cello teacher. In addition to teaching, she is a founding member and the Principal Cellist of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, a distinguished role she has proudly held since the orchestra’s inception in 1991. Over the years, she has captivated audiences as a featured soloist, showcasing her remarkable talent in performances of the Lalo Cello Concerto and the Haydn Cello Concerto, highlighting her exceptional skill and artistry.
In addition to her work with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, Lorie is a founding member of the Boise Baroque Orchestra, where she contributes her expertise in performances that delve into the rich repertoire of the Baroque period. Her musical prowess extends beyond these groups, as she has collaborated with various local ensembles. Notable performances include participating in Hymns of Thanksgiving, showcasing her musical versatility with Opera Idaho, and being a part of the Millennial Choirs and Orchestra, Music Week, and the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra.
Throughout her extensive career, Lorie has dedicated herself to continuously expanding her repertoire, technical skills, and overall musicianship. She has actively sought out collaboration and study opportunities with other professional musicians, demonstrating her commitment to growth and excellence in her craft.
Dunkley Music is thrilled to showcase Lorie Marmon-Scherer as a cello teacher at our music school, where she shares her knowledge and passion with her students, helping to nurture the next generation of cellists. Currently, she is undertaking an exciting project to arrange music specifically designed for an adult student cello choir ensemble, an initiative aimed at fostering community and musical education among adult learners. With a cello-playing career spanning an impressive 55 years, Scherer remains a dedicated and influential figure in the local music scene, inspiring her peers and students alike.
