About Dr. Jane Williams

Dr. Jane Williams is a saxophone teacher and the director of the Dunkley School of Music in Meridian, Idaho. She offers private lessons in classical and jazz saxophone for students ages 10 and up. Younger students may be accepted following an interview.

She holds a Doctorate in Saxophone Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa and brings more than 26 years of teaching experience to her role. In addition to private teaching, Dr. Williams has served as an adjunct professor at Boise State University and two other higher education institutions.

Student Achievements

Many of Dr. Williams’s students have achieved top honors in their musical pursuits. Two were featured on NPR’s From the Top, and others have earned superior ratings at competitions. Several hold section leader or first chair positions in their school bands.

Since 2013, her students have regularly been selected for the Idaho All-State Band and All-Northwest Honor Band. One student performed as a soloist in the Meridian Symphony Youth Competition. Another earned a place in the Honors Performance Series and played at Carnegie Hall.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Williams creates a focused and supportive learning environment where students develop strong technical skills and personal expression. Her lessons emphasize progress, goal-setting, and confidence-building.

Although her students pursue a variety of careers, many continue making music in college and beyond. Several have received scholarships, joined prestigious university saxophone programs, and now work in music education, performance, and composition.
