Byron (Boe) Adams is a valued drum teacher at the Dunkley School of Music. He caught the music and performance bug while growing up in a vibrant household where melodies and rhythms filled the air. His mother, a passionate pianist and organist, made music lessons a non-negotiable part of family life, instilling a deep appreciation for musical expression. Boe’s two older brothers were also musically inclined, with one excelling on the drums, which only fueled Boe’s enthusiasm for music. At 13, he began accompanying his brothers to gigs, where he seized the chance to step in and showcase his burgeoning talent on a few songs.
Boe’s musical journey took a significant leap when he joined a band called Mirrors. There, he performed across eastern Idaho and even had the thrilling opportunity to shoot a music video for MTV. His experiences with various bands and countless miles traveled solidified his commitment to a life in music. Seeking to hone his craft, he enrolled at MIT, where he immersed himself in the study of drumming, further deepening his passion for the art.
After relocating to the scenic Boise area, Boe continued to expand his musical horizons by studying jazz and the intricacies of music education under the mentorship of Patrick Kurdy. Over the past 24 years, he has dedicated himself to teaching and performing throughout the region. Boe firmly believes that each student possesses a unique learning style, and he prioritizes recognizing these individual differences, allowing each person to grow at their own pace.
