I discovered a love for music at age 9 when I first picked up my grandfather’s alto saxophone. I went on to train in classical voice, and performed professionally in the Sacramento area, including appearances with the Sacramento Philharmonic and the Sacramento Opera Company. I attended Natomas Performing & Fine Arts Academy and gained experience as a music and vocal director for local theater companies.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force for six years, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis and have enjoyed working with children with special needs over the last several years. I have taught music for the last five years and am currently expanding my musical expertise at the Berklee School of Music. I am also pursuing my NTMA certification in Vocal Teaching.

They feel they have failed if they make a few mistakes during a performance. I love creating a new possibility for my students where performing is not about giving a perfect performance — mistakes are going to happen! Performing is about having fun with your audience and creating a meaningful connection with them where you share something that is exciting and meaningful to you. In this context, mistakes are practically meaningless. Everyone is so caught up in the magic of what is being shared that a mistake is nothing more than the musical equivalent of a misspoken word in a sentence that is immediately forgotten and moved beyond. I love creating that context for students because it transfers into school presentations, sports, and church talks, and the confidence they learn from it carries into adulthood.

I also teach basic organ lessons for those of my students who are interested in playing the organ for their church services.

I am a member of the Treasure Valley Federated Music Club, so my students have the opportunity to participate in the Gold Cup Festival.

Frank teaches all styles of drums and percussion, from scholastic concerts and marching to drum sets for all styles of music, including Jazz, Worship, Rock, funk, and Latin. Frank has years of performance experience, including concert, marching, and ensemble percussion, as well as live performances in hand percussion and drum sets for several groups. I have been involved in the music community in the Boise/Meridian area for many years. I taught at Idaho Music Academy for several years after graduating from Boise State University, where I studied piano, violin, and composition. I hold a B.M. from BSU and professional certification (NCTM) in piano from Music Teachers National Association.

I now run a full time piano studio and stay active in National, State, and local music teacher’s organizations including the Idaho Federation of Music Clubs (IFMC) where I serve as State Festival Cup Chair for Idaho, and Treasure Valley Federated Music Club (TVFMC), where I serve as Festival Administrator, Festival Cup Chairman, and Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

Theory and proper technique are an important focus at Signature Music Studio.

I most enjoy teaching private lessons and following each individual student’s interests, helping them to achieve their goals.
