Mr. Johann Vargas


Johann Vargas was born in Caracas, Venezuela. His interest in music began at an early age with the influence of Latin American and Caribbean rhythms. He obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees in Piano Performance under the direction of Dr. Del Parkinson at Boise State University.  As an undergraduate, he was awarded first place in the Concerto-Aria Competition with his performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 in B minor. As a graduate, he won the same competition with a performance of Totentanz by Liszt.

Mr. Vargas was a show pianist and stage band director for the Hughes Brothers Celebrity Theater in Branson, Missouri, where he performed hundreds of live performances in addition to composing and arranging music for the shows. He has performed as guest soloist with the Magic Valley Symphony and the Meridian Symphony.  He is currently the Co-Chair for the National Federation of Music Clubs Boise Central Area Spring Festival.  Mr. Vargas has a full-time studio in Dunkley Music in Meridian, Idaho, as part of the Dunkley School of Music. Mr. Vargas and his wife have nine children.
