Talon Smith is currently in his third year serving as Second Trombone of the Boise

Philharmonic. Originally from Southern Oregon, he now happily resides in Boise where he

performs and teaches trombone. He has had the pleasure of performing with many

organizations including the Eugene Symphony, Rogue Valley Symphony, Newport

Symphony, Oregon Mozart Players, Orchestra Next, and has likewise performed in the

International Trombone Festival, Astoria Festival Orchestra, Musicking Conference, Oregon

Bach Festival, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Britt Festival

Orchestra, and Ensemble Primo Seicento. As an active educator, Talon has had the pleasure

of being a guest artist and clinician throughout the pacific northwest including

masterclasses at the University of Oregon and the Central Oregon Youth Orchestra and had

held the position of instructor of Low Brass at the John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts in

Eugene, Oregon. Talon earned his Master of Music in Trombone Performance at the

University of Oregon in 2017 where he was awarded Outstanding Graduate Performer in the

Area of Brass. Prior to his graduate studies, Talon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music at the

Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University in 2015. In his free time Talon

enjoys chasing the perfect cup of coffee, listening to music, and playing guitar.
